Peacefully, with family by his side, at the age of 84 on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre's Palliative Care Unit.

David is survived by his loving wife Marilyn (Shaw) of 60 years and their children Ralph and his wife Carol Dowsett Rae, Gary and his wife Peggy Quinn, Heather Glass and her husband Jeff; and was predeceased by his grandson Connor Rae, parents John and Isobel Rae, parents-in-law George and Margaret Shaw, and brother-in-law Gary Shaw. David will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Colin, Gwenna, Kathleen, Maggie, Emily and Nicole.

He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Jan Shaw, nephew Michael Shaw, niece Laura Cunningham and their families, brother-in-law David Shaw and his partner Anne Tidy; and a lifetime of dear friends and other relatives. David and Marilyn met and courted in their teens and were married on June 1, 1957.

They shared countless adventures together and created wonderful memories for their family and friends to cherish. Born in Toronto, David was a graduate of Forest Hill Collegiate where he developed many lifelong friendships. He earned a certificate in Marketing Management from the University of Western Ontario School of Business Administration and was a member of The Institute of Canadian Advertising.

He retired from a successful advertising career.

David was also a proud member of the GCCCR and Thursday's Children. A celebration of David's life will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 2:00–5:00 p.m. at the GRANITE CLUB, 2350 Bayview Avenue, Toronto.

Special thanks to all of the health care providers at Sunnybrook.

In David's memory, donations to the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre's Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated by the family.
