EMBREE, Mary Elizabeth (nee COTTRILL)  - August 31, 1935 - October 27, 2017 Mary Elizabeth Embree nee Cottrill passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 27, 2017 in her 83rd year.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 44 years Reginald George Embree.

Loving mother of Donald (Catherine) and Laura (Jordan) and her beloved grandchildren, Laura's sons Ryan and Owen Willis. Daughter of the late Todd and Jean Cottrill, adored niece of the late Faye and Donald Munro, she leaves behind her brothers Watson and John Cottrill and her sister Bonnie Smith.

She is also survived by her loving nephew Ron Carlyle (Terry). Mary was born on August 31, 1935 and grew up in Richmond Hill. Mary was a Registered Nurse graduating from the Toronto Western Hospital and the University of Western Ontario. Mary and Reg married in 1960 raising their family in Willowdale in their home that Reg built, where Mary lived until earlier this year. 

Throughout her life, Mary was an active member of the Newtonbrook United Church, later Cummer Avenue United, and was proud to be part of the United Church Women. Mary enjoyed summers in Port Elgin growing up and has spent every summer since 1960 at the Embree family cottage on Oxtongue Lake with her children, grandchildren and many friends.

The family wishes to thank the team at North York General Hospital for its care, with special thanks to the nursing staff of 7 South East and to Dr. Knight, Dr. Tang, Dr. Shetty and Dr. Rutledge. 

Visitation will take place at R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St., on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place in the chapel on Thursday, November 2, 2017, 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cummer Avenue United Church, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or North York General Hospital.
