IVORY, John "Poppy"  - It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved "Poppy", Father, Grandfather and friend, John Ivory 1934 – 2017 (83).

John's presence, heart of gold and sense of humour was a gift to all lucky enough to have known him.

Our lives will be darker without the warmth of his smile, kindness and deep (tea) belly laughs. He will be deeply and forever missed by his best friend and son "Mark" Alexander Ivory, Jo Calabretta and grandchildren, whom he held most dear: Storm (Meredith) and Paige Ivory.

As well as by all of his friends, which he regarded as his family and acquaintances whom he treated as friends. A celebration of his life will be held at the Stone Cottage 3750 Kingston Rd., Scarborough, ON M1J 3H5 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11th. We ask that you wear a Red Poppy in honour of this outstanding man, who honorably served as a service man in a Scottish unit of the British Army.

The discipline, strength, and patriotism he acquired as a soldier, immigrant and loving single - father, never left him – as friends and family will attest. In celebration of John's selfless and loving heart, donations can be directed to the Ivory family, to improve the care and quality of the life of Mark Ivory (John's son) at his Long Term Care Facility.

Cheques can be made out to Storm Ivory. Alternatively, we encourage donations to be made independently, to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

It was John's nature to spread humor, warmth, and love to all he knew. We will continue to do so in his honour.
