Milewski HerbertMILEWSKI, Herbert Wilhelm Milewski  - (September 21, 1929 – November 17, 2017).

Our wonderful husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at Centenary Hospital in Scarborough, Ontario, after a brief illness.

Herbert Wilhelm Milewski was born in East Prussia 88 years ago.

He married Erika Zeretzke in 1956, and they had three children (Peter, Birgit and David), followed by four grandchildren (Michael, Daniel, Emily and Marcus).

We are deeply saddened by his passing, but find comfort in the memories he left us.

Herbert (Herbie to his friends) was a self-made man, who lived life his way. He was the common man's man, who believed that everyone deserved a chance and a friend. He treated people according to what they did, not their station in life.

He was sweet, likeable and charming - if you deserved it, but if you got on his bad side, you would be the first to know.
Herbie had the spirit of a pioneer, who embraced risk and the unknown. He also had a love of the land, which was instilled by his growing up on a farm (you could take Herbie out of the country, but couldn't take the country out of Herbie).
If you look up hard worker in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of Herbie.

He wasn't afraid of manual labour or long hours, and never, ever complained. He depended on no one, and that's the way he liked it.

Everything he achieved, he achieved with his own sweat (and his wife's guidance, of course).
Herbie's passing is the world's loss. Rest in peace Herbie.

A memorial service will be held at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 4115 Lawrence Ave E, Scarborough, Ontario, at 2 pm on Friday November 24, with visitation from 1-2 pm.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Toronto. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.giffenmackscarborough.com for the Milewski family.
