STANCER, Dr. Magda  - It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Magda Stancer (nee Magda Winter) announces her passing on September 8, 2017 surrounded by her family in Santa Barbara, California.

She studied and then graduated from the University of Toronto as one of the first women dentists and she maintained a successful dental practice in Toronto until her retirement at the age of 71 in the year 2000.

She also studied at Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital in New York specializing in facial prostheses for patients of Cancer of the face and continued this work part-time at the Princess Margaret Cancer Hospital in Toronto.

One of Magda's early hobbies was making pottery. Once retired she became a glass artist specializing in fused glass which resulted in several "one man" shows in Santa Barbara, California. She was also an avid scrabble and chess player, swimmer, skier, tennis player, reader and classical music lover.

A memorial service was held in Santa Barbara, California on October 7, 2017 and was attended by her family, friends and neighbours.
