Schofield CarolSCHOFIELD, Carol  - September 23, 1935-November 25, 2017 Mum was so loved.

She passed away on a grey November afternoon surrounded by the family that she made with Ed, her husband of 58 years, gently holding her hand.

Mum's courage and resilience were tested after a serious fall over Thanksgiving.

Though her will was strong and things were looking up, an unrelated infection proved too much for her. We encouraged her to go - she had already given us everything we need.

She took our whispered words of thanks and love with her. Mum was a gifted and passionate English teacher who taught her four daughters to be loyal friends, supportive wives, loving mothers and good people.

She brought a sense of empathy to every situation and had the knack for turning a difficult moment into a relaxed one with a thoughtful, diplomatic comment. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Memories of Mum: Avon river walks... afternoon cream tea... crossword puzzles... picnics and Shakespeare... butterfly kisses... Belgian playing cards... cribbage tournaments... Blue Jays games... apple pie... shamrocks... storytelling... prayers to St. Anthony... warm hugs... love of words and words of love.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at St. Basil's Roman Catholic Church (50 St. Joseph Street) at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the "Teaching Tolerance" Program at the Southern Poverty Law Centre (1-888-414-7752), in Mum's name would honour her commitment to diversity, equity and justice.

Donations allow free materials promoting these values to be sent anywhere in the world and can be viewed at www.tolerence.org.

Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel.

Mum would have loved that.
