HALL, John Charles  - It is with deep sadness that the family of John Charles Hall announces his passing at the age of 96, on January 12, 2018 at the Veterans Centre, Sunnybrook Hospital Toronto, Ontario.

Originally from Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, John married his longtime sweetheart Edna Woodstock on May 8, 1943 in Ontario, just before shipping off to serve as a Lance Corporal in the First Hussars in World War II.

After the war, John began a long and distinguished career at Bell Canada, retiring in 1981 after 35 years of service. While Edna passed away in 2005, John is survived by his 3 children Sharon (John) Holmes, John Jr. and Marilyn, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Sue and his goddaughter Blanche.

John will also be missed by his many friends at East York Curling Club and the Aurora Golf Club, where he was active for many years. Miners' Bay Lodge in Minden Hills, Ontario, held a very special place in John's heart.

This is where the family has vacationed every summer for more than 60 years.

It was here he met his best friend Bruce Hamilton. Over the years the Hall and Hamilton families have shared a unique and special bond. In accordance with John's wishes, there will be no formal memorial service.

Friends wishing to commemorate his life are encouraged to give a donation to the Sunnybrook Veterans Comfort Fund (raiseaflag.ca).

The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff of "L" wing Sunnybrook Veterans Centre for the excellent care John received these past 2 years.
