RIFE, Janette (nee McCurdy)  - January 21, 1926 - January 20, 2018 

Janette McCurdy Rife, daughter of the late Arthur Cecil McCurdy and Mary (Marie) Magdalen Brunt Wood, sister to Alexander (deceased, 1945) and Andrew (deceased, 1986) all of Toronto, died January 20, 2018.

Graduated from Victoria College, University of Toronto and married Dr. Donald Logan Rife in 1950.

Mother of three children, received a second Bachelor's degree in Sociology at York University and worked later with Dr. Rife at his dental practice.

Chairperson and among the founders of Northminster United Church, Jan was devoted to the UCW and maintained deep friendships among that congregation and with the "Vic" girls all her life. Janette sustained a loving marriage with Don until his death in 2006.

Their deep ties to family have created close bonds between its members. Janette's love of reading and her interest in the important issues of the day will long be remembered and have inspired her offspring. Sadly missed by daughters Katherine (Joseph Alessi) and Nora Rife, son Gordon (Laurie), grandchildren Lindsey and Christine Rife ( Malcolm O'Hare) and Joseph and Gianna Alessi and great-grandson Connor O'Hare.

Services at R. S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street. Visitation Saturday, January 27th, 10 a.m., Service at 11 a.m., Reception at 12 noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to the Massey Centre for Women, the Scott Mission or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
