Reinhardt DianeREINHARDT, Diane  - It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our sweet mother in the wee hours of January 23, 2018 at St. Joseph's Health Centre from complications related to dementia.

It has been a difficult, but mercifully fast journey and she is now at peace.

She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, (Otto) Harry Reinhardt, her 3 children, Sandy (Peter Bovey), Mark and Kelly (Michael Leblanc) and her 7 grandchildren, Chelsea, Scott, Connor, Jack, Sam, Tom and Joe plus a large and loving extended family.

Born on October 31, 1940 in Toronto, Diane Marilyn Reinhardt was the only child of Allan and Hannah May (Harbin) Newton. She attended York Memorial with her lifetime pals Bert and Beth and upon graduation, she secured her first job at National Life where she met a VERY tall, dark and handsome man named Harry. Wed in 1962, she followed him to Michigan, Winnipeg and eventually back to the wilds of Etobicoke where they have lived ever since. Much fun was had with the crazy neighbours of Decarie Circle, where mom stayed home with her 3 children for a number of years. In 1971, with the sudden passing of her mother followed by Harry's illness with viral encephalitis, things changed for Diane.

With Harry unable to work, mom had to take care of and support her girls and severely autistic son. As luck would have it, a family friend heard of her situation and offered her a job at Pure Metal Galvanizing, which she immediately accepted. For the next 30-plus years, this was to be her happy place.

Sincere thanks to nurse Mary for her compassion, Dr. Lehnert for his sage council, Mom's dear friend Rosalie who always has time for everyone, and our caregiver and longtime friend, Jadwiga, who is the only reason that our family survived the last 6 months. If so inclined, a donation in Diane's name to Kerry's Place Autism Services would be greatly appreciated.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Monday from 6-9 p.m.  A Funeral Service will be held at Humber Valley United Church on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. Reception immediately to follow.

Mom you were our angel and our rock. We will miss you terribly but know that now you will be with us wherever we go!.
