EVELYN, Debra Andrea  - January 19, 1954 - January 29, 2018

Debra Andrea Evelyn, age 64, has graduated and returned to the stars for her next adventure.

Daughter of Johnny and Kitty Evelyn, Debra was born on January 19th, 1954, younger sister to Sydney, Joan Ann, Bernadette and Leo; older sister to Victor and Dwayne.

Debra followed in her parents footsteps in regards to her passion for Barbados, it was in pursuit of this passion where she met her loving husband, Laurence Bell, at a sailing class.

They soon discovered they both worked in business for General Motors where they continued long and successful careers.

Following their retirement they spent many years sailing the sea and visiting family in Barbados prior to her diagnosis.

Debra underwent a double lung transplant in 2012, she continued to live life to the fullest every second thereafter, travelling and spending time with family. She passed peacefully on January 29th, 2018at 1:17pm surrounded by her husband and other family members under the compassionate care and guidance of the Toronto General Transplant Critical Care team.

Her family will always be grateful to this team for their support during Debra’s battle, despite her strength her lungs were no longer strong enough.

She has now passed over to a new way of life; out of her body that was no longer capable of supporting such a beautiful soul. Debra’s family will miss the light she brought to everyone’s life however the memories of her adventures will never be forgotten, she will remain a role model to us all.

Those whose lives were touched by Debra are invited to a Celebration of Life being held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa (905-721-1234) on Saturday, February 10th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, followed by a reception for family and friends to celebrate as Debra would have wanted.

Debra always chose to focus on the joy in life, we look forward to doing the same in her memory.

Online condolences may be made at  oshawafuneralhome.com.
