SMYLIE, Douglas Edwin, (BEng, MA, PhD) - It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and Bichon Frise lover Douglas on April 20, 2018.
He will be sorely missed.
Born on the family farm in New Liskeard, Ontario on June 22, 1936.
Douglas led a full life and was a world renowned scientist in the field of geophysics, winning the J. Tuzo Wilson Medal in 2002.
He had a deep love for family including wife Susan, children Diane, Janet, Hugh, and Andrea and grandchildren Alan, Lance, Ashley, Bob, Ella, Ben, Andreas, Quinn, Jay, Grace and Gavin to whom he dedicated his book Earth Dynamics.
