Haluk Dr MichaelHALUK, Dr. Michael Ivan, P.Eng,  78, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Toronto, of a sudden heart attack.

He was born in Dubivci, Ukraine on February 10, 1940.

His family left his native Ukraine in 1944, during WWII, via Germany, and settled in Sudbury, ON

He graduated with a PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Toronto in 1970 and wore his iron ring with pride.

He was active in the Ukrainian Canadian community, enjoyed fishing, boxing and kept abreast of all world issues. His beloved father, Ivan Haluk, preceded him in death.

His beloved mother, Anna Maria Haluk, 96, survives him. He is also survived by his two sons, Myron and Mark Haluk, his grandchildren, Alexander, Timothy and Marie, as well as his close companion, Katerina Evanoff-Tingley. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation for all will take place on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 7 to 9 p.m., with a panakhyda at 8 p.m., at the Turner and Porter Funeral Home, Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. West, Toronto.

A Funeral Rite will take place on Friday, May 4, 2018, at 1030 am at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Protection of the Mother of God, 30 Leeds St., Toronto.

Burial will follow at approximately 12:15 p.m. at the St. Volodymyr Cemetery, Oakville, with lunch for all to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Help Us Help the Children at dopomoha-ukraini.org.
