Dodds ElsieDODDS, Elsie (nee HIEBERT, previously FISCHER)  - With classic Elsie willpower, she fought off death till the end, which came on June 22, 2018, about three weeks after her 95th birthday.

She died at Christie Gardens, Toronto, her proud and loving family beside her.

Born in a Mennonite village in Russia, she spent most of her life in Kitchener-Waterloo, where she built and managed the University of Waterloo bookstore for over 30 years.

Lovebird of the late Clovis Dodds, and mother of the late Rick Fischer.

Predeceased also by granddaughter Kyla, brother Walter, and sisters Hilda and Frieda. So loved by daughter-in-law Rita, son Wayne and his wife Kathy, son Gary and his husband Brian, daughter Susan and her partner Margot, and daughter Laurie Anderson and her husband Bill. Wonderful Grandma to four Fischers: Alex (Lesley), Rudy, Cameron and Sadie.

Big sister to the Hieberts: William and Pauline, Harold and Gwen, Rudy and Pat - and aunt to their kids. Also a longtime friend of the extended Fischer family in Leamington, ON. We wish to thank the genuinely caring staff at Christie Gardens, who got a kick out of Elsie.

Celebration of life at Erb and Good Funeral Home, Waterloo, ON., Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 1 p.m. Donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, which brought Elsie's family to Canada when she was two years old.
