McLean BettyMcLEAN, Betty Irene  - Passed away peacefully at Union Villa on June 24, 2018 at the age of 98.

She was predeceased by her husband John Allan McLean in 1986.

Beloved mother of John (Marita), Allan (Rachel) and Marcia.

Grandmother of Aaron, Catherine, Shannon, Julie, Dana, Alexander, Matthew, Michael, Tiffany and Patrick.

She was great-grandmother to Ally, Tessa, Nadja, Lena, Madeline, Scarlett, Finn, Svea, Liam, Noah, Jace, Ella, James and Harrison.

Betty is survived by her brother John Baird and predeceased by her brother Dr. Wm. Baird. Betty was born Scarborough but lived most of her life in Markham.

Her parents were Jane Irene MacDonald and John Stuart Baird. She lived on the farm with her parents on McCowan Road and later farmed with her husband. Betty attended the University of Toronto and graduated with a degree in Home Economics. Betty enjoyed many sports, including curling, swimming, alley and lawn bowling.

She enjoyed travelling to Europe, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. Betty enjoyed many social activities with her friends and was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Friends and family will be received at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street N. (Markham Road) on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 12 p.m. Reception and interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or to St. Andrew's United Church, Markham.
