MITCHELL, DR. Alfred - September 25, 1940 - June 21, 2018
Dr. Alfred Mitchell peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Bridge Point Health Center.
The family would to thank all of the staff at BridgePoint Health for their exceptional care of Alfred, especially Dr. Jeff Myers and the wonderful nursing staff and therapists on the fourth floor.
Alfred was born in Grenada, the West Indies and came to Canada over fifty years ago to pursue his educational dream.
He graduated from the University of Waterloo with his Engineering degree, followed by his Masters of Science degree from Queens University, followed by his PhD. from the University of Copenhagen.
Alfred fought a great and brave fight against cancer for over seven years.
He always believed he would overcome this disease and it was his positivity and faith that will be remembered most.
Alfred led a full and active life - he had an incredible hunger for knowledge and anyone who knew him knew education was his passion - both for himself and helping others, especially youths he was close to.
Alfred is survived by his wife Yvonne Snagg-Mitchell, his daughter Lisa Mitchell, son-in-law Frank Conroy, his granddaughter Ava Conroy and his stepdaughter Alison Snagg.
Brothers Norris and Jacqueline Mitchell of Grenada, the West Indies, Neville and Catherine Mitchell of the United Kingdom, Sydney and Catherine Mitchell of Grenada, Percy and Ethlyn Mitchell of Toronto and Raymond and Joy Mitchell of Texas, United States.
Funeral services for Dr. Mitchell will be held on Friday, June 29th, 2018 at: Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto, Ontario M4H 1B6. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m.
