POSACKI, Larry Walter Posacki  -

NOVEMBER 19, 1960 – NOVEMBER 22, 2023

Peacefully passed away on November 22, 2023, following a long illness.

Born in Oshawa to MaryAnn and Walter Posacki on November 19, 1961,

Larry will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as a generous and kind-hearted individual with an incredible sense of humour.

Larry’s larger-than-life friendly persona left a positive mark on anyone fortunate enough to cross paths with him. In addition to a large group of devoted friends, Larry will be missed by his sons Jacob (Gina Levnaich) of Banff and Benjamin of Westlock; his loving long-time partner and best friend Jane Cook of Oshawa; step-daughter Katelyn (Dave Stamper) and grandchildren Presley and Hannah of Clarington.

He will also be missed by his brother Roger (Jan Findley) of Dublin, Ohio and his nephews, Christopher of Denver, and Kellen of New York City. From a young age, Larry developed a strong passion for sports, excelling in fastball and becoming an avid golfer following college. He became known for his monster drives and as a result, the 6th hole at Stonehenge Golf Club, was known as “Big Larr” by his golf buddies.

Larry shared his love of sports with his family, particularly as they followed their favourite teams including the Oshawa Generals, the Blue Jays and the Buffalo Bills.

His remarkable photographic memory and extensive sports knowledge was always impressive which he demonstrated when he organized and hosted the annual family Christmas trivia game.

A thoughtful listener, Larry always showed genuine interest in everyone he met and his selflessness and willingness to help others continues to serve as an enduring inspiration.

We ask that any memorial donations to honour Larry’s memory go to the Oak Ridges Hospice of Durham (https://www.oakridgeshospice.com), whose exceptional staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure that Larry’s final days were comfortable.

Details about a celebration of life will be shared at a later date.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at  oshawafuneralservices.com for the Posacki family.
