Dam MinhDAM, Minh Chi Dam -

FEBRUARY 8, 1955 – FEBRUARY 19, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce that Minh Chi Dam, aged 69, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday, February 19, 2024.

He was diagnosed with late-stage kidney cancer, and courageously underwent treatment for over one year.

Minh was born in Bắc Giang, Vietnam.

Growing up, he had little to eat, and quickly learned to be frugal and resourceful. In 1981, Minh immigrated to Canada with his parents and siblings.

He had a strong work ethic and was employed at Chrysler Canada Inc. for 30 years, earning his rest and retirement on February 28, 2014.

Despite his harsh childhood, Minh had a warm heart. From greeting a stranger, to helping a neighbor, to being a supportive husband and father, his goodness was pure.

He also appreciated good food, savoring varieties of dishes, especially his wife’s cooking. He was very handy and had a talent for MacGyvering solutions.

eing in the driver’s seat on road trips, sipping coffee, and long walks with his wife and dog are some of the simple things he enjoyed in life.

Minh was predeceased by his son, Daniel, and leaves behind his spouse of 39 years, Qiao, daughter, Karen, and family pets Molko and DJ.

He will also be dearly missed by his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Lakeridge Health Foundation would be truly appreciated.

Visitation and service will be at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. W. Oshawa on Monday February 26 from 9 to 11 am, followed by burial at MOUNT LAWN CEMETERY, Whitby.
