PHILLIPS, John Phillips  - In the early hours of February 24, 2024 Kenneth John Phillips, aged 88, passed peacefully from life with family at his side.

Kenneth was born on March 2, 1935 immigrating from Buxton, England to Canada at the tender age of 24.

Ken took the monumental step to start a new life in Toronto where fate happily intervened, introducing him to Anneliese who took the same incredibly brave journey from Germany. Together they enjoyed 64 years of marriage.

Ken worked in the transportation industry for many years and enjoyed working for Avis as a driver when he retired. He loved driving new unaffordable cars, driving fast, and having coffee with the guys.

He was a 32-degree Mason and Shriner, playing drums in the Oriental band in Oshawa.

Ken always beat to the sound of his own drum. He enjoyed giving back to the community through the Shriner’s Children’s Charity and loved seeing smiles from the kids during the parades and circuses.

Always remembered by wife Anneliese (Hoffschulte) Phillips, son Tom (Tracey Dec 23, 2022) daughter Caroline, and granddaughters Michaela, Cassandra, Jessica.

He is also remembered by many family members in England, friends in Cuba and all those who were privileged to know him over the years.

We would like to thank the staff at the Bowmanville Hospital for their compassion and care.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a memorial donation to Doctors Without Borders.
