PFISTER, Elfriede - With heavy hearts, we announce that Elfriede Pfister (née Mischlich), born February 9, 1930 in Dornheim, Germany, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Hillsdale Estates on February 28, 2024.
Elfriede left Germany in her early twenties in search of a better life in Canada.
Her cottage home on Chandos Lake, which she shared with her husband Willi, was for decades a source of serenity, joy, and many long-lasting memories for Elfriede, her family, and the close friends of her children and grandchildren.
She spent many years there enjoying the beauty of nature, tending to her lovely gardens, building fires, fishing, and mastering her German cooking and baking skills.
Elfriede had a second home, where she spent many happy winters in the central Florida sunshine sewing, knitting, doing crafts, and playing bingo and shuffleboard.
She will forever be remembered for her loving heart, her sense of humour, and for being a wonderful mother, Oma, great Oma, and dear friend to many.
Elfriede was pre-deceased by her husband Karl Wilhelm (Willi) Pfister and grandson Christopher John Parker (Danielle).
She leaves behind her beloved children Elke, Roy (Karen), her dear grandchildren Katie Chapin (Braden), Nicolas Parker, Kelly Pfister (Jackie), Alexander Parker (Georgina) and her 3 great grandchildren, Sophie, Lennox, and Kai. Elfriede was survived by her sister, Ingrid Meile (Niagara, Ontario), her dearest cousin Hans Schaffner and family (Wolfskehlen, Germany).
We wish to express our sincerest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Lakeridge Health and staff at Hillsdale Estates, Oshawa, who were nothing short of incredible as they cared for Elfriede over the years and in her final days.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend for visitation at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Wednesday Mar 6, 2024 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home chapel at 11a.m. Interment Thornton Cemetery.
