BARROS, João “John” – Passed away peacefully at the age of 69 on February 28th, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa surrounded by his loving family.
Beloved husband of Cidalia Barros.
Loving father of Paul (Danielle) Avila and Stephanie (Richard) Lucero.
Cherished grandfather of Maranda and Mateo Avila and Maven, Caiden and Emry Lucero. He is predeceased by his parents, João and Maria Barros.
John always faced life with a positive attitude and smile on his face, even through every hardship he faced during his grueling battle with ALS.
Always the life of the party, he loved nothing more than to make those around him laugh with his quick wit and humour. He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back and offer a helping hand without hesitation.
But above all else, what brought him the greatest joy in life was being a vovô – he loved his grandchildren fiercely and boasted about them often. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Friends and relatives may visit at Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21 Garrard Road, on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
Interment at MOUNT LAWN CEMETERY .
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the ALS Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
