MOERKENS, Miriam Hannah  -  Passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 28, 2024 at the Winbourne Park Long Term Care in her 90th year.

She is now reunited with her late husband Henry.

Beloved mom to Dirk (Linda) Moerkens and Helena (Brian) James. Loving grandmother to Courtenay (Darren), Brittany and Greg and great grandmother to Finn.

Miriam was one of three siblings predeceased by her older brother Bert and younger sister Vera.

Miriam immigrated to Canada in 1955 as a nanny to a Military family with children, landing initially in Hagersville Ontario.

She eventually ended up in Toronto where she met her husband Henry and was later married.

By the late 1960’s it was decided to retire as business owners and Miriam began working doing secretarial work for many years. During that time they moved from Scarborough and settled in Ajax where they met and made many friends.

A few years after Henry’s passing in 2004, Miriam sold their home on Plumridge Court and moved into a condo on Falby Court.

Miriam then decided to sell her condo and moved to a retirement home community now known as Chartwell Harwood where she was loved by all.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and loved her throughout her life as the genuine lovely and compassionate soul she was through out her entire life.

Arrangements with McEachie Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Diabetes Foundation.
