Kronis Henry

KRONIS, Henry  -  After a brief hospitalization, Henry Kronis passed away at St. Joseph’s Health Centre on September 21, 2018. He was in his 86th year.

Henry was predeceased by his parents, Therese and Julius Kronis of Graz, Austria, his sister and brother-in-law Traudl and Heinz Koenig of San Jose, California, his father-in- law Archie Angus and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Linda Angus.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn Kronis (nee Angus), mother-in-law Ella Angus and sister-in-law Nancy Angus (Mark Smyk) as well as nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Henry was born in Munich, Germany. After WW2 his family moved to Graz, Austria. Henry was trained as a tool and die maker with Puch Manufacturing Company in Graz. Upon immigrating to Canada in 1953, he worked with the Toronto Public School Board, learned English and saved to attend the University of Toronto graduating in 1960 as a chemical engineer. Henry worked with Abitibi and later had a lengthy career with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. After retirement Henry enjoyed the Learning Unlimited and Probus opportunities to learn and be with friends.

Henry was a quiet gentle man who loved his home and puttering around in the garden, building or repairing things and going for long walks. Henry enjoyed visiting with the neighbours and we thank them for their many kindnesses to Henry especially as his health and language skills became more difficult. Henry and Marilyn travelled back to Austria and Germany but he was happy and proud to call Canada his home.

A celebration of Henry’s life will take place at 11:00 on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Islington United Church, 25 Burnhamthorpe Road. Visitation is from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Should friends wish, donations in Henry’s name can be made to the Healthy Living Clinic (Geriatric Outreach Outpatient Clinic) at Humber River Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Centre, the Memory Clinic at Baycrest Health Sciences or a charity of your choice.
