SEMANYSHYN, Mary - (October 8, 1933 - November 18, 2018) - It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Semanyshyn, (nee Yarek) announce her passing on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at home.
Mary was the beloved wife of Anthony, who predeceased her in 2008, and she is the cherished mother of Mary Anne and her husband Richard Rak.
Mary also leaves behind her much loved sister Helen Smorenburg (late Jan). She will be greatly missed by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends in Canada, the US and Europe.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and gratitude to all who have supported Mary in the recent past through her medical challenges.
Mary had a kind and generous heart and a deep commitment to her faith and Catholic charities.
Friends may call the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane subway, on Wednesday, November 21st, from 2-4 and 7-9. Panakhyda 7:30. Funeral liturgy will be held at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 LaRose Ave., Etobicoke on Thursday, November 22nd, at 10am. Interment Glendale Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre (where Mary worked as a volunteer prior to her illness), and Canadian Food for Children (a charity close to Mary’s heart), or to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
