Luit JoanLUIK, Joan Marie (Brown) - July 31, 1933 - December 12, 2018 - In loving memory of Joan Luik, 85 years, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2018 at Sunnybrook Hospital.

Loving wife of Ando Luik for 52 years.

Devoted mother to sons Scott (Jackie) and Jaan (Sherry).

Cherished grandmother to Jaden, Owen, Sawyer, Cole and Jordyn.

Predeceased by her parents William and Margaret Brown.

Dear sister to John, Gwendolyn, Margaret (Rosie), Winnifred (May), Gerald, Edna, William and Bonnie; and a caring aunt to many nieces and nephews in the extended Brown family. She was also loved as sister-in-law to Arvo and Marion Luik.

Joan was devoted to her family; loved art, nature, animals and embraced life. She hosted many celebrations for hockey parents, art shows, and gatherings for family and friends both at their home and at the cottage. Joan was immensely proud of her sons and grandchildren who brought her much joy.

Joan won awards for her beautiful water colours, was a positive influence to the women she taught at Durham College, and along the way created a large, cherished group of friends who will remember her for her generous heart, wit, and devotion to husband and family.

The family wishes to thank her caregiver, Opal, as well as the doctors and staff at Sunnybrook Hospital for their compassionate care.
Memorial donations may respectfully be made to either: Alzheimer Society of Canada or Sunnybrook Foundation

Following cremation, family and friends are invited to fondly remember Joan at a Celebration of Life gathering on Sunday, January 6th, 2019 at Miller Lash House 130 Old Kingston Rd. Scarborough, ON.  Private family gathering 12:30 – 2:30pm Extended visitation 2:30-4:30pm.

In Joan’s memory do a good deed, cherish your time with family, and strive to leave something beautiful behind!.
