GIANNETTA, Maria (nee Colella) - (22 February, 1948 – 6 March, 2019)
Maria Giannetta (nee Colella), born on February 22, 1948 in Anzano di Puglia, Italy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home in Richmond Hill on March 6th, 2019.
She is survived by her beloved husband Mario of 52 years. Cherished mother of Antonietta (John), Rocchina (Jim) and Angelo (Deborah).
Loving Nonna to Nicholas, Amanda, Michael, Alexandra, Olivia, Mario and Claudia.
Devoted daughter of Giuseppe Colella and Antonia Rossi. Cherished sister to Fabio (Savina), Gaetano (Maddalena) and Rocco.
Maria, her husband and infant daughter bravely immigrated to Canada in 1968 in search of a better life. The family grew over the years to include two more children. They laid roots in Scarborough and built many wonderful family memories together.
Maria worked very hard to provide for her family as a homemaker and then a factory labourer for over 30 years. Her most important job was raising her family and instilling core values such as loyalty, kindness and respect.
Maria was a caring, considerate, thoughtful, loyal and soft spoken woman. She was an amazing cook, baker and “card shark," but most of all she was a loving wife, affectionate mother and adoring Nonna. She will be missed, but will live forever in our hearts.
Visitation at Jerrett funeral home, 6191 Yonge Street, North York, Ontario on March 10th from 2 - 4pm and 6 - 9pm.
Funeral service at St. Paschal Baylon Roman Catholic Church, 92 Steeles Ave. W., Thornhill on March 11th at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow.
