Calcada GusCALÇADA, Augusto 'Gus' Lopes - Gus was dearly beloved husband of late Miraldina, loving father of Jose (Sandra) and Susan, and cherished grandfather of Michael and Cassandra.

He passed away peacefully at the Malton Village Long Term Care Home on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the age of 90, with both his children at his side.

A native of Portugal, Gus moved to Toronto in 1966. He worked tirelessly and sacrificed everything for his family. Although he had no formal education, he was incredibly intelligent and often came up with the most ingenious ideas.

Gus was an auto-mechanic at Avis for over 25 years and had many fond memories of his time there. He retired to Wasaga Beach and spent almost 20 years enjoying life there. He was happiest when he was on go - whether that was in his garden, riding his bike, apple-picking with his family or even shovelling snow. He participated in many activities with his friends at the "Prime Time Club" and really loved line-dancing and being in the choir.

With the loss of his eyesight, he required help and in 2014 he moved to the Beechwood by Revera Retirement Home in Mississauga. He enjoyed living there for 5 years before he moved to the Malton Village Long Term Care Home in June of 2019.

Gus will always be remembered as a good, hard-working man, who had a kind heart and generous spirit. He appreciated all he was afforded in life and was especially grateful for the care provided to him in his later years, at both the Beechwood and Malton Village.
