LaCALAMITA, Rose Esther (nee Greco)  - March 27, 1934 – November 4, 2020

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Esther LaCalamita on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at the age of 86.

Predeceased by her loving and beloved late husband of 61 years, Leonard.

Beloved by and devoted and loving mother to her son John (Olga), and daughters Diane and Nadine (Michael).

Cherished by and caring and loving grandmother to Lauren, Matthew, Michael and Thomas. Born in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Rose moved to Toronto to attend university and graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto in 1956.

Later that same year, she married Leonard and not long thereafter they opened Leonard Pharmacy on Avenue Road and Wilson Avenue, which was her pride and joy for 33 years.

Admired for her keen intellect and competence, strength of character, unparalleled integrity, fairness, and fearless yet optimistic determination and resilience in the face of any obstacle or challenge, she always encouraged her family and others to have hope, confidence and courage.

Genuine and down-to-earth, she was also especially kind, generous, selfless, caring, considerate and loyal.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a private family Funeral Mass and Interment was held on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, in Thornhill.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
