D'ADDAMIO, Tiberio - Age 94, died peacefully at Valleyview Residence on December 26, 2020.
He lived most of his life in Toronto, at his family home up until December 2018. Born in Roccaspinalveti, Chieti, Italy, Tiberio was the youngest of six children, and the last to pass on.
He was predeceased by his mother Assunta Orlando, father Epimenio D’Addamio and siblings Triestina, Irma, Remo, Adelchi, and Tarquinio.
Tiberio is survived by his loving and devoted wife Nella of 65 years, his daughter Beatrice, his son Valentino and his daughter Sabrina.
He is also survived by his son-in-laws Robert and Gianluca, and grandchildren Jessica, Stefanie, Christian, Julian, Sofie and Gabriel.
He will be dearly remembered by his many family members, nieces, nephews, and friends near and abroad.
Tiberio was blessed with good health, and enjoyed a rich family life, surrounded by many who loved him dearly. He was a hard-working immigrant man who always made sure his family was taken care of, in particular his son who has Down Syndrome.
He led a life devoted to spirituality in Christ. As a child, Tiberio served for many years as an altar boy at the Church of San Michele Arcangelo.
During World War II in his town, he was assigned duties as a teenage boy to construct wooden caskets for the deceased.
After the war, he travelled to Valle D’Aosta for a few years where he spent time learning the art of tailoring, working with family. In 1950, he moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina to be with his sister where he worked as a cabinet maker for nearly 5 years. In 1954, Tiberio returned to Italy and met his wife Nella, and in 1955, along with the many other Italian immigrants, made the 11-day boat trip to Canada’s east coast in Halifax, known as Pier-21, with little to no money or possessions. One year later, his wife joined him to begin their lives together in Toronto, Canada.
We are extremely grateful to the staff at Valleyview Residence, who became his family, especially during the many lockdowns at the home in this past year. May they find blessings for the remarkable care and compassion they commit to each and every day.
Tiberio will be deeply missed and loved by all, especially by his wife Nella and son Valentino, who lived with him for most of his life.

Tiberio had many favourite passages and quotes from the Holy Bible.
One passage is Jesus Calms the Storm, recounting one of the miracles of Jesus in the Gospels.
This miracle spoke to Tiberio, especially in his latter years when faced with adversity and fear of the future.
Having faith in God and Christ gives courage to face life’s storms.
