Ballin MaxBALLIN, Max Jean Julien - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Max, a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather (Papi), on December 20, 2020 after many years of medical complications resulting from a traumatic brain injury.

Max was born in France, he came to Canada on a whim for “a few months” in the seventies.

He stayed and adopted this land as his home, and a few short years later, at a very young age, he achieved his dreams of becoming a successful entrepreneur, and built a name for himself as “The French restaurateur” of the late 80’s, all through the 90’s in Toronto.

His distinct joie de vivre and panache, his knowledge of every type of regional French cuisine and his encyclopedic expertise in French wines made every visit to his restaurant an epicurean experience in fine dining.

Max leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Marie-Thérèse, and his two beloved children, Vanessa and Sébastien, Rosemary (Sebastien’s wife) and his three beautiful grand-children: Sophia, Luca and Sienna.

Max was pre-deceased by his parents, Henri and Paulette.

He is survived by his brother Jean-Paul (and Hélène his spouse), his sister Micheline (and Bernard, her spouse), and by his many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations In Max’s honour to Brain Injury Canada.
