Jeffrey KarenJEFFREY, Karen Ardree   - February 24, 1959 - March 18, 2021

Our Beloved Karen is free and is in her father's arms, greeted by her dogs.

Loving mother to Brendan J. Huggett, amazing aunt to David, Natalie, Antonina.

Dear daughter of Rosemary and David Jeffrey (deceased 1970), devoted sister to Pamela.

Karen battled hard over the last number of years with various illness, finally finding peace last week at St. Michael's Hospital, with family.

Karen was 1 of 4 patients to begin Nocturnal Hemodialysis, in April 1994 at Wellesley Hospital.

Karen's knowledge and enthusiasm for this new method of treatment had her invited to speak at many medical and health ministry events, encouraging and introducing this technology.

Karen was also a peer support for new patients.

We acknowledge and thank Drs. Andreas Pierratos and Gavil Hercz, and all members of Karen's care team for their dedicated work over all these years.

30 years of continuous dialysis was only possible because of their efforts.

Along with being an active fundraiser, The Kidney Foundation also invited Karen to speak to raise awareness for kidney care and research.

Karen was the recipient of many Distinguished Service and Peer Support awards. Fabulous and glorious, a lover of fashion.

Karen took to water like a true Pisces, a graceful strong swimmer throughout her life. Flowers and gardening brought joy.

A gourmet chef with an excellent pallet, a lover of all things Ramsey.

Karen was a gentle teacher always willing to share. Karen prayed for her family and friends daily.

Karen's core was one of kindness, love, acceptance and forgiveness, her spirituality and humour allowed her to live with hope and graced those who knew her.

Karen's spirit is in our hearts always.

Donations to Canadian Pemphigus Foundation or St. Michael's Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
