KEESHAN, Peter - It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Keeshan announces his passing on May 10, 2021, at the age of 82 years. He died peacefully at home in Brampton, with family by his side.
Peter was the beloved husband and best friend of Terrie Keeshan for almost 60 years. He will be sorely missed by his children Angela, Patricia, Cynthia, Peter, and Fiona, their spouses, and twelve grandchildren.
He will be lovingly remembered for his bright and welcoming smile, constant laughter, and legacy of love, empowerment, and compassion.
A private funeral will be held at Ward Funeral Home, Brampton chapel on Monday May 17 at 10:30 a.m.
Respecting the current situation and pandemic restrictions, the funeral service will be private. The family has provided the opportunity to view the Livestream from the comfort of your own home via a link on the funeral home's website.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made online to canadianfoodforchildren.net or by cheque made to St. Anthony of Padua - Outreach (940 N Park Dr, Brampton, ON L6S 3L5).
He was born into a life of adventure that began in Liverpool, England, and saw him sail back to Dublin with his mother, Mary Keeshan. Raised alongside his brothers and sisters of the Blackburn family he brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. After becoming a mechanical engineer in Dublin, Ireland, he was inspired to adventure again with his best friend Patrick Slattery and sailed to London, England. After helping to convert London's city streets from gas to electric light he joined the British merchant navy to sail the world. All the while exchanging letters with the love of his life. He would be parted from Terrie no longer and resigned his post to return to Dublin to marry his soulmate. Peter and Terrie, were married and began a family when adventure struck again. Inspired by conversations with his best friend on bringing brighter futures to their growing families, he and Joe Dunne, decided to immigrate to Toronto, Canada. Though it was in Brampton, Ontario that he and Terrie set down roots. He was a man of faith and believed that love, compassion, and community service was the path to a better world. He championed social justice through OUTREACH at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Brampton, to support families in need. His results were recognized by the Knights of Columbus who recruited him to join their ranks and further his work under their banner. Together with his wife, he sponsored a family from Vietnam and housed them in their transition away from war; and worked alongside Dr. Simone to support and facilitate food drives and missions for Canadian Food for Children. He was a man of incredible strength and love. Those are the traits he passed on to his children, his grandchildren, his brothers and sisters of the Keeshan, Mezzetti, and Blackburn clans, and all the friends and families he loved and supported along the way. He will always be remembered for his constant and shining smile, quick-witted jokes tinged with mischief, easy laughter, and warm welcomes. He will be dearly missed.
