Tintor GeorgeTINTOR, George - (1957 -2021) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Tintor at 64 years of age on May 30, 2021.

George was born in Toronto on May 6, 1957 into a hardworking and loving Serbian immigrant family who instilled in him the fundamental values which influenced his life. Values and lessons of hard work, honesty, ruthless integrity and an ability to face adversity and challenges with calm, stoic bravery.

He took those lessons to heart, striving for achievement in both his professional and personal life. George completed his undergraduate degree in Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and his MBA at Columbia University in New York. Whilst at Penn, he was a member of the Penn men’s rowing team who dominated the Ivy League under the leadership of legendary Penn coach Ted Nash in the late 1970s.

During his first year at Penn, George took leave following an invitation to join the tryouts for Canada’s men’s rowing team for the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. He succeeded and was a proud member of our country’s Olympic delegation in Montreal that year and continued as a Canadian National Team member up to the international boycott of the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980.

Following his rowing career, George enjoyed a successful career in investment banking beginning in New York and then in London and Zurich, the latter city where he raised his three daughters.

George also continued as an active member and supporter of the Argonaut Rowing Club in Toronto where he provided inspired leadership to many young men and women and was always proud to wear the double blue colours of that storied club.

George is survived by his daughters Diana (Timo), Marina and Anushka and one grandson Lars. He is predeceased by his mother Ankica and leaves his father Petar, brother Nick (Marilyn) and many nieces, nephews, kumovi and relatives in Canada and Serbia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in George’s memory be made to All Serbian Saints Orthodox Church at 2520 Dixie Road, Mississauga, Ontario, LY4 2A5 or directly via their website at: www.sabornik.com.

Alternatively, to the Argonaut Rowing Club at 1225 Lake Shore Blvd West, Toronto, Ontario, M6K 1C1 or http://www.argonautrowingclub.com/fundraising/

Arrangements are entrusted with Scott funeral home, Mississauga chapel. As a result of strict COVID regulations, a private family funeral will be held on Friday, June 4 at All Serbian Saints Orthodox Church in Mississauga, Ontario.

Burial will be at a later date in Zurich, Switzerland.
