REINE, Bertha Toby (nee Tittel) - Our dear Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Sister, Aunt and friend, Bertha Toby Reine (née Tittel) passed away after a brief illness on August 9th, 2021, at Baycrest Hospital Palliative Unit.

Bertha was supported by her loving family until the end.

Devoted wife to the late Dr. Jack Reine, mother to Sharon, Neil, Judy and Lori, Mother-in-law to Alan Goldhar and Steven Kruger. Cherished Bubby to Jason, Stefanie, Jaclyn and the late Adam Kruger. Beloved sister of the late Evelyn Goodman and the late Fred Tittel.

Special thanks to her caregivers Cherry and Gizelle and all the staff at Apotex- Baycrest 4 for their tender and respectful care, maintaining Bertha’s dignity and morale. The family also wishes to acknowledge the care and compassion of the Baycrest Palliative Care Team.

Bertha was born January 30, 1925 in Toronto, 2nd child of Abraham and Fanny Tittel (née Merkur)

Bertha met the man who was to be her husband for the next 44 years at a local mixer and when he tried her cheesecake - the deal was sealed!

Bertha helped support her husband’s career at Doctors Hospital, joining the Women’s Auxiliary, eventually becoming President .She was particularly responsible for the success of the hospital’s Gift Shop. She was a member of the Sisterhood at Beth Tzedec Congregation, participating in their many events and functions, including the Host A Disabled Israeli Veteran program.

She will be much missed by those who knew her. She will be remembered for her love of her family and friends, her delight in opera and ballet and her special gift for baking.

Her memory will be a light to illuminate our path throughout our lives.

All donations to be made to the Adam Kruger Fund at Beth Tzedec Synagogue, 416-781-3511.

Visitation arrangements and livestream funeral details are entrusted with Steeles Memorial Chapel. The family will be accepting a limited amount of visitors per day. To reserve a time slot, please contact tge funeral home. Only those who have been double vaccinated are permitted to visit.
