GREIG, James Edson 'Jim' - (October 19, 1940 - August 10, 2021) - It is with heavy hearts our father James (Jim) passed away suddenly of natural causes at the family cottage on August 10th, 2021 at the age of 80.

He was born and raised in Toronto to his late loving parents, Robert and Stella Greig.

He was a loving and devoted husband of 60 years to the love of his life, his recently deceased wife Marie, cherished his late brother Kenny, a loving father to Janet (Vaughan), Kelly (James), and Bradley, a proud grandfather to Tyler, Jessica, Victoria, Madison, and Brendan, brother in law to late Margaret and Terry, uncle to Alison and Megan.

He will fondly be remembered by his friends and neighbours.

Jim was a kind, gentle, fun-loving man with a cheerful, positive attitude. He deeply loved his family and often spoke lovingly of his wife, family and friends. He treasured family and social gatherings, playing card games, a good meal, TV, spending time in nature, and animals. He cherished spending time with loved ones at his favourite place, his cottage on Georgian Bay.

Jim was incredibly loyal to the city of Toronto not only as a dedicated “Maple Leafs” and “Blue Jays” fan, but also in his long career at “The Toronto Star," from which he retired.

His passion for the community led him to be a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and to volunteer for over 30 years at the St. Vincent De Paul Society for his parish of Transfiguration of Our Lord Church.

Our hero was reunited with his "Sweet Marie", to whom he was her knight in shining armour.

We will miss his smile, infectious laugh, and generous spirit. His memory will forever be in our hearts. Rest in Peace Dad.

Arrangements and visitation RSVP details are entrusted with Ward Funeral Home, Weston chapel to celebrate the lives of Mr. James Greig and Mrs. Marie Greig.

A funeral mass for James and his loving wife Marie will be held in coming weeks at Transfiguration of Our Lord Church. Please refer to the funeral home website for a confirmed date.
