Gillis SheldonGILLIS, Sheldon Francis - (1948 - 2021) - It is with profound sadness that the family of Sheldon Francis Gillis announces his passing on Sunday August 15th, 2021. He passed away peacefully with family by his side at Michael Garron Hospital.

Born in Glacé Bay, Nova Scotia on March 3, 1948, he was the son of the late Ronald “Rannie” and Catherine (‘Katie’, nee Spencer) Gillis and he was the loving husband of Florence Savard-Gillis.

Sheldon Gillis will be forever remembered by his wife and his five children, Richard Plourde, Edmonton, Alberta, John Plourde, Fort Erie, Ontario, Roger Plourde, Toronto, Ontario, Nancy Plourde, Edmonton, Alberta and Sheldon Savard (Joyce), Belleville, Ontario.

He is also survived by his four grandchildren Roy and Patrick Savard, Devon Savard and April Plourde. His Sister Bernice (Leo) MacDonald, Antigonish, NS, his brother Clement (Alice) Gillis, Glacé Bay, NS. His other family members and friends.

Besides his parents, Sheldon was predeceased by his brother Allister J. Gillis, his sister Mary Jacqueline MacDonald ‘Jackie’ and another brother Rannie Gillis (in infancy).

Sheldon worked hard to provide for his family and made a good name for himself around Southern Ontario through his hard work ethic as owner and operator of Gillis Roofing Ltd.

Throughout his time on earth, Sheldon touched the lives of many people. His family and friends were always a priority to him. If you knew Sheldon, you knew you had a good friend in him. He was always there to lend a helping hand, even to complete strangers. His children and grandchildren always benefited from his good sound advice and his humorous quick wit always kept a smile on our faces while we were around him.

Our hearts are heavy that Sheldon is no longer with us but we take comfort in knowing that he is currently rejoicing in heaven with those that have gone before him.

The family would like to thank the health care team at Michael Garron Hospital. They were extremely professional and empathetic and we know that Sheldon had the very best possible care.

Arrangements are entrusted with Giffen-Mack funeral home, Danforth chapel.
