Reilly DorisREILLY, Doris Imogene (nee Wegg) - With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Doris Imogene Reilly (nee Wegg). She left this world on August 13, 2021 at the age of 93.

Doris will be greatly missed by her devoted husband and soulmate John Reilly of 69 years.

Beloved mother to Deborah (Peter), Donna (Steven), Sandra (Keith), and Angela (Brent). She will be forever in the hearts of her grandchildren, Jonathan, Stephanie, Jason, Sean, Justin, Dean, Connor, Vanessa and Olivia.

She was born to Daniel and Irene Wegg in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania on May 11, 1928 and relocated to Toronto with her family when she was very young. She lost her father at the age of 12 and often spoke about him and how much she missed him. Doris was one of 6 siblings, all who had passed on before her.

After finishing business school Doris worked at CN Telegraph, Wood Gundy and Griffiths Laboratories. She grew up in Toronto near Leslie St. where she met her husband, John. After they were married they bought a home which is where they raised their family and both lived together up until her passing. Her family is blessed with many fond memories.

Family was always so important to Doris. She was an artist in her own right, in the early days sewing dresses for her girls and then later taking on the art of decoupage, leaving many beautiful pieces for the family to treasure. Doris’s passion in her spare time was her love of her garden. She spent many a day tending to her plants always coming up with creative ways to keep the squirrels from eating the bulbs; sometimes successful sometimes not so much.

In her later years Doris joined the community centre and learned how to play a mean game of bridge. Doris will forever be in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her love for her family and for her beloved husband. Truly a testament of what marriage and family is all about.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and Dr. Rahim Abdul Hussain on the 6th floor at Scarborough General who showed such care and compassion for her in her final days.

Arrangements are entrusted with Paul O’Connor Funeral Home, Scarborough.   Cremation.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Society www.cancer.ca or the Alzheimer Society https://alzfdn.org/support-us/donate/.
