Marangoni LawrenceMARANGONI, Lawrence - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father Lawrence on Saturday August 28, 2021.

He will be missed by his loving wife Emily, children Andrew and Jordan (Bianca).

Brother to John (Emily), Christopher (Filomena) and Paul (Sandra).

He will live in the hearts of everyone that knew him.

The first is designated to Dr. Perry at Sunnybrook, my father’s (and Gord Downie’s) oncologist, and the director of all current/leading edge brain cancer (glioblastoma) research in Toronto.

Donations can be made online here: https://donate.sunnybrook.ca/tribute
Please select the ‘in memory’ option, and ensure the ‘Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research’ is selected in the designation drop down menu.

In the tribute section, please enter ‘in memory of Lawrence Marangoni’.

Alternatively, donations can also be made over the phone at 416-480-4483 – Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM.

Equally important are the angels who took care of my father the past several months within Bridgepoint Active Healthcare's Palliative Care Unit. People (in my opinion, ignorantly) disparage our healthcare system here in Canada, however the care that my father received over the past few years could not have possibly been any better; even if I had spent every cent I had.

If you visited my father over the last few years, you undoubtedly heard him say “thank God I live in Canada” on more than one occasion. Really, it was the selfless and caring staff at every facility we visited that made all of the difference and as such, my father wanted to ensure that they receive the recognition and support they deserve.

Donations can be made to Bridgepoint Active Healthcare's Palliative Care Unit here: bridgepointhealth.ca/memorial.

Visitations will take place at the DeMarco Funeral Home, Woodbridge on Tuesday August 31, 2021. The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday September 1, 2021 at St. Judes Roman Catholic Church at 10:00am (3265 Weston Road, North York, Ontario).
