Phillips IrenePHILLIPS, Irene Olive (nee Manuel) - Age 84 years, (March 25, 1937 – Sept 5, 2021) -  Sadly we must share the news of Irene’s passing at Scarborough General Hospital.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt & friend; she will be dearly missed by many.

Born & raised in Northern Arm, Newfoundland she met the love of her life, Sam Phillips (of Bonavista, Newfoundland).

They married in Toronto and built a wonderful life together over their 63 years of marriage, setting a remarkable example of love & devotion for all.

Irene is survived by her husband Sam; her children Glen (Karen), Brian (Mary Anne), Linda (John); second mom to Diane (Kurt); & her grandchildren Dayna (Jon), Lauren (Andrew), Dhillon & Braeden.

A Nursing Assistant and Cancer Society volunteer, Irene was one to demonstrate how deeply she cared for people within her family, circle of friends and well beyond.

Irene will be fondly remembered by us all for visits enjoyed over a game of cards or a pot of tea & her famous cabbage rolls & date squares. It was rare to leave their home empty handed as Irene would insist on a treasure or treat to take along.

Our thanks to the PSW’s from LHIN and the staff at the McCowan Retirement Residence for all of their loving support to help keep Irene comfortable over the last years.

Arrangements are entrusted with Paul O'Connor funeral home. A private celebration of life will be planned for family.

In lieu of flowers a donation to Diabetes Canada or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated.
