Henderson RobertHENDERSON, Robert Gordon   - August 23, 1927 - August 26, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon in his home surrounded by family.

Beloved husband of Elizabeth Margaret (nee Wilkinson) for 69 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sons Paul, Mark (Yana), Stuart (Diane), grandchildren Scott (Mariko), Liza (Jon), Rory, Lauren (Alex) and Max, great-grandchildren Kayden, Wesley, Violet and Jade.

Born in England, Hebburn-on-Tyne, Gordon was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters.

At the tender age of thirteen he was evacuated to Canada to live in Lakeview with his Aunt Agnes and her family safe from the harm of the World War II.

During his five year stay he started working as an apprentice electrician, and volunteered for the Canadian Army at seventeen, the war ending before Gordon could see service.

Gordon returned home to England and his large loving family at eighteen.

He met his beloved Betty at a church dance one evening and missed his train stop to walk her home.

Married in 1950 Gordon and Betty emigrated to Canada to live and raise a family.

Working in the electrical trade, Gordon was a long time dedicated member of IBEW Local 353.

At home Gordon and Betty raised the boys in a happy loving home. Always together, Gordon and Betty shared a wonderful life of family, travel, golf and dance.

As members of the Scarborough Scottish Dance group, Gordon and Betty enjoyed friendships that lasted the test of time.

Gordon and Betty are now reunited again.

On August 28th, the family gathered for a private service to say goodbye.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto would be greatly appreciated.

Special thanks to Dorothy Ley Hospice and the wonderful care given by Annie, Wilma, Rowena, Angie, Maria and Sandra.

A celebration of life will be held when protocols allow.
