Kent HansKENT, Hans - Died peacefully on September 18, 2021 at Sunnybrook Hospital at age 91, sadly and yet somewhat fittingly a mere three weeks after the passing of Irene, his wife of 63 years.

At age nine, Hans with his family fled Czechoslovakia after the Hitler invasion landing in England in September 1939.

After completing his education as a Certified Public Accountant in England, he emigrated to Canada in 1953, continuing his accounting career well into his late eighties!

With Irene, Hans enjoyed the outdoors as an avid skier, sailor, swimmer, walker, traveller and all-round adventurer. On weekends, they enjoyed the challenge of cryptic crosswords while he rooted for his favourite British football team – Huddersfield Town AFC – all the while consuming chocolate covered British biscuits! He was inquisitive by nature – extremely well read and a treasure trove of trivia, making him an asset to any conversation long before Google!

He was proud to have been the founding President of Alpine Ski Club. As the case with many club members, he had fond memories of great ski runs, gourmet lunches and many social events at Alpine.

Hans is survived by his sister Liesl Bandler and many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces/nephews.

A private family celebration of life will be held.

Should you be inclined, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Hans’s honour are appreciated.
