Silva OrlandoSILVA, Orlando Manuel - (1956 - 2021) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Orlando Manuel Silva in his 65th year, on September 24, 2021, surrounded by his family at home.

Loving husband to Helen of 44 years; devoted father to his children Melanie, Adam, Jesse and Danielle; proud grandfather to Destiny, Mason and Sofia; a good, protective brother to his sisters, Maria and Margaret, whom he often loved to pull pranks on.

Predeceased by his sister-in-law Fern, who considered him to be her hero.

Born and raised in Pico, Azores until the age of four when he immigrated with his parents and older sister to Canada.

Orlando was a hard worker and dedicated employee of Domtar Company for 44 years. Within those last years, he was forced into taking disability leave, due to visual and mobility complications of Diabetes.

He was a kind and caring man, who always placed his family first, and made many sacrifices in order to do so, even if it meant working two jobs. He was well respected by his peers and his community, and loved by all those who became close with him.

While in hospital, he had a team of doctors who admired his optimism and determination in spite of his fatal diagnosis. Orlando had a great sense of humour and somehow made light of his battle with cancer. He managed to still crack a joke or make one of his well acclaimed funny faces as he would shrug and say: “It is what it is”

Dearest Orlando, you were taken from us far too soon and will be so deeply missed, but you are free of pain now.

May you Rest In Peace.

Due to current COVID restrictions, the Funeral service for Orlando will be for Immediate family only. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. Arrangements entrusted with Scott funeral home Mississauga chapel.
