Laid to rest November 11, 2021.
Daughter of Archie and Ethel Mae Bentley.
Predeceased by her sister Lorna Bentley Wreford.
Survived by her niece Martha Wreford, nephew Andrew Wreford (Elisa) and great-aunt to Lara Mae. She was a kind and generous spirit.
She supported many causes, from women's education, endangered wildlife, Humberside Collegiate, Victoria College, and the University of Toronto with both time and money.
She received the Distinguished Alumni Award for 1999 on U of T Day. She was also one of the founders of the Friends of the Library and the Victoria College Book Sale. She worked tirelessly for child protection and in education across Canada and in England.
She worked at Ontario Training School for Girls - Galt, Lord Nelson High School in Burlington, Danforth Tech., and retired from Mayfield Secondary School in 1984.
She travelled the world and returned with grand stories of her adventures and lessons to be learned from different cultures.
Ruth was known for strong opinions, and a strong commitment to the less fortunate.
She will be remembered for the impact she had on so many and the legacy she left behind.
