DEWAR, Joan (Barbara) - Joan Dewar, born February 2, 1931, died peacefully on March 12, 2018 after a short illness.
She was cared for by her family and the staff at Michael Garron Hospital (formerly Toronto East General Hospital).
Predeceased by her first husband, Fraser Hugh Dewar and her second husband, Reverend Donald Gordon Ray, she will be greatly missed by her own children: Andrew (Takako), Jennifer (Dave) and Sarah (Andy), as well as Donald's children: Judith (Fred), Ian and Duncan (Christine).
Joan will also be missed by her six grandchildren: Brendan, Devlin (Nell), Nathalie (Dan), Hugh, Fiona and Morna. Joan will also be missed by the summer residents of Sand Lake, where she had a cottage. Joan was a graduate of Bishop Strachan School and Trinity College (University of Toronto).
Joan was an active member of the Donway Covenant United Church for almost 60 years. She was also a member of The Potters Studio for over 30 years.
A celebration of Joan's life will be held on May 26, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Donway Covenant United Church. A second celebration will be held in August at the Sand Lake Log Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the following organizations in remembrance of Joan: the Alzheimer Society of Ontario, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or Michael Garron Hospital.
