POYNTZ, Danny Alford  - September 16, 1926 March 19, 2018

Dan was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1926.

Son of Mary Gwendolyn Poyntz and Alford Robert Poyntz and the oldest brother of Gordon and Robert Poyntz. He married Joan Margaret Reid, his true love, in 1948 with whom he had three children, Barry (Deeane), Gary (Katie Truscott) and Heather (Anthony Yates).

He was a devoted grandfather who adored his four grandchildren, Katelyn Poyntz, Kathleen Yates, Reid Poyntz and Adam Yates. He was a special uncle to Philip Poyntz (Penny), Donald Poyntz (Marcia) and Stuart Poyntz (Penny).

He was a wonderful father, dedicated husband and helping friend to all. He was appreciated for his quick mind and sense of humour whose generous soul touched many people. He was known to be an amazing host, with many close friends.

Dinners at the Island Cottage were alive with music, laughter and chatter. He had a passion for antique boats and could often be seen cruising down Lake of Bays in his Greavette Streamliner on his way to Bigwin or to visit friends.

Special thanks to Helen Ponce and Minda Princena and the wonderful staff at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre for their exceptional and compassionate care.

In keeping with Dan's wishes, we are holding a private family service.  A Celebration of Dan's life will be held in May.

Donations to the Scott Mission will be gratefully appreciated.
