HOEFEL, Maria Hoefel - 89, a long time resident of Ajax Ontario, passed peacefully on October 17th 2019.
Maria was born to Martin and Julianna Mohr on September 16th 1930 in Strâmbeni Romania.
Surviving many hardships during WW2, she married the love of her life, the late Ewald Hoefel in 1948.
As young new parents they made the incredibly brave decision to immigrate to Canada from Germany in 1952 .
After establishing roots while raising their three children at their home on Glendale Drive they eventually settled in Ajax Ontario on the family farm.
Maria was a devoted Mother first and foremost to her three children: Harald (Anne Johnston), Carl, Monika (Paul Davidson). She treasured her family and loved her role as Oma to her five grandchildren: Jason, Adam, Andrew, Catherine and Brittany, six great-grandchildren: Harper, Nash, Aurora, Olive, Ford & Laurel.
She also leaves behind two sisters and countless nieces and nephews in Germany.
She had a kind loving soul and a smile that was infectious.
Nothing was too difficult and never did she complain!
Maria lived a full life. he was a dedicated and hardworking homemaker, daycare provider and passionate about cooking, baking and gardening. She always saw the beauty in life and loved to share her positivity with others over a slice of her apple pie and a hot cup of tea.
