BOYD, Rose Marie - Age 88, of Pickering, Ontario, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2020 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Rose was born in 1931 in Fenn, Alberta and spent her childhood on her parents’ farm with her sisters, Dorothy and Margaret, and her brother, Joseph.

The Lockwood family would later move to Stettler and then to Edmonton, Alberta. As a teenager, she worked part-time in a florist shop, and a love of flowers and gardens was a constant throughout her life. Although she would go on to live most of her life in Ontario, Rose never forgot her roots in Western Canada and often reminisced about her life and family there

She married John Keith Boyd in 1949 and moved with him to his family home in Toronto. They built a house in Highland Creek and raised three children: Geraldine, Michael, and Robert.

In addition to being a devoted wife and loving mother, she worked for Canada Post for more than 30 years.

During the last four years of her life, she lived in the V!VA Pickering Retirement Community where she valued the friendship of the residents and the care she received from the staff.

Rarely seeking the limelight, Rose was a quiet woman who listened more than she spoke.

"I like to help people," she often said and carried out her good deeds in silent action. She was the glue that held her family together and she will be deeply missed.

Rose is survived by her three children, Geraldine Mearns, Michael Boyd (Margo), and Robert Boyd (Anita); three grandchildren, Christopher Boyd (Shauntelle), Shane Boyd (Megan), and Jessica Boyd; great-granddaughter, Aspen Boyd; and her sister, Margaret MacKenzie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pauline Lockwood; her husband, John Boyd; her sister, Dorothy Adams; and her brother, Joseph Lockwood.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose's memory may be made to Parkinson Canada or the Toronto Zoo.

A celebration of her life will be held later in 2020 when it is again safe for people to gather together.
