Bhamra MaryBHAMRA, Mary Hilda Goonewardene (Nanny-Ma)- (November 28, 1920 -  October 14, 2020)

On Wednesday, October 14, 2020, our extraordinarily iconic Mom passed away at the Ajax-Pickering Hospital and went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Mom was in her 100th year (six weeks from becoming a Centenarian).

A woman of fierce independence and beloved wife of the late LabhSingh KaramSingh.

Loving and caring mother to her eight children: the late Jitto, the late Pritam Kaur Rano (late Harban Singh), the late Prem Bhamra, Polly Mallinga (late Dr. Stephen Mallinga), Sheela Lloyd (David), Rasu Rosario (Romanas) (late Rodney), Gurucharan Jit Singh Bhamra (Bassie) and Laxmi Tarras (Mark).

Grandmother to Pradeep Singh Rano, the late Satvinder (Brownie) Singh Rano, Pramila Kaur (Armin), Jonathan Mallinga (Jennifer), Rachel Mallinga (David), John Zikos (Joanna), the late Stephanie Mallinga, Pamela Mallinga, Shelaney Lloyd, Sonia Rosario, Justin Rosario, Shawn Dimitri Bhamra (Letta: Mother), Andrew Tarras and Bryan Tarras.

Six Siblings: the late Richard, the late Peter, the late John, Zubeda, Rita and the late Isaka.  Mother: Theresa Kabongora (descendant from King of Bunyoro) Father: James Peter Goonwardene.  Keeping with Mary’s wishes anyone who wishes to attend is welcome.

Funeral Mass is at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at St. Isaac Jogues Roman Catholic Church, (1148 Finch Avenue, Pickering, Ontario). Note: Safe Covid rules with social distancing will be in affect – The Church has 70 "pods" (4 people per family per pod, providing they reside in the same household) and everyone is required to wear a mask). 

Following the Mass, Entombment (Burial) to be held at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, 7770 Steeles Ave. E, Markham, Ontario. 

In addition, there will be a Visitation on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL CENTRE, 1057 Brock Road, Pickering. You are invited to attend at one of the three following times: 12:00-1:00pm; 1:30-2:30pm or 3:00-4:00pm. Pre-registration is required as there is a maximum of 20 people per hour.
