KENT, James Garry  - August 1938 – March 23, 2021

As a long-time employee and retiree of General Motors of Canada in Oshawa, Ontario, James Garry was known to his coworkers as Jim but to his friends and family he was Garry.

Garry grew up in the Kawartha Lakes area and counted Ennismore and Lakefield among his favourite childhood places for fishing, boyhood mischief and the beginning of his love for camping and canoeing.

In 1957 Garry married his wife, Jackie, in Peterborough, Ontario and after some years of adjustment to married life and children, including time in basic training and multiple moves within Ontario and Alberta, they settled in Oshawa, Ontario.

In Oshawa, Garry worked hard at GM to provide for his wife and fifteen children (Lindsay, Jamie, Karee, Angela, Sean, Ian, Debbie, Shane, Garri-Lee, Sheila, Shannon, Jason, Kelly, Coire and Ashleigh).

However, for his children, their spouses, twenty-seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, Garry’s lasting legacy will be Kent Family Camping.

The family will be holding a private outdoor celebration of life at a later date.  In honour of Garry’s memory, donations can be made to the Lakeridge Health Whitby Dialysis Clinic at www.lhfoundation.ca or next time you’re camping have a Labatt’s Blue and dip a paddle in the water.
