LOPES, João “John” Espiga - (Retired 35 year employee of Sklar Peppler and long time member of the Portuguese Club; played professional soccer in Portugal and enjoyed his many victories with the Italian Soccer Team and also enjoyed coaching soccer.)
John died peacefully in the arms of his loving wife Elaine and surrounded by family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday December 23rd, 2017, in his 81st year.
Loving brother of Maria Amelia Desousa and the late Augusto Lopes; brother-in-law of Maria Emelia Lopes; June Anne Child and her husband Ken and Janette Thomas.
Will be lovingly remembered by his Godson John Carlos and his wife Nubia and his many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday December 30th, 2017 at 12 noon at ST. GERTRUDE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 690 King Street East, Oshawa.
Donations in memory of John can be made to St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church or Lakeridge Health Foundation Dialysis.
