Keay AudreyKEAY, Audrey Lorraine (nee Brown) - (December 14, 1929 – March 3, 2021) -

It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Audrey Lorraine Keay, at the age of 91, on March 3, 2021 with family by her side.

Her passing comes almost four years after the death of her beloved husband, Herbert Keay, in April 2017.

Loving mother of Deborah (Gus) and Tim (Sandy). Proud Nana and Grandma to Nicholas (Connie), Ryan (Elizabeth), Sean (Diana) and Colin. Great Grandma (G.G.) to Venice, Domenic, Charlotte and Gwenyth. Dear Step-Grandma to Mark and Lisa (Alec) and Step-Great-Grandma to Zoe and Olivia.

Predeceased by her parents, James and Annie Brown, her sister Helen, and her brothers James and Harold. Survived by her brother Fred and his wife Judy.

Audrey was a lady who lived her life with modesty, dignity and humour. Her life was full and rewarding, a life well-lived. Her sweetheart was Herb and their incredible journey together lasted 68 years, showing us all how to have a long and happy marriage.

A child of the Depression and WWII, Audrey learned to fend for herself at an early age. She loved her family and worked hard with Herb to provide and care for them. When she wasn’t working Audrey would spend her free time knitting, sewing her own clothes, doing needlework and making jigsaw puzzles. She had a flair for interior decorating and an eye for colour which she used to create a beautiful home.

Audrey never stopped surprising us with her resolve and inner strength. During a difficult past five years she fought like a champion as she dealt with Lewy Body Dementia. In recent times Audrey might not have known who you were, but she was always happy to greet you with her beautiful blue eyes and bright smile. Now, finally, she is at peace.

She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

Many thanks to Audrey’s dearly loved friends and neighbours for keeping in touch with her over the last few years. Forever in our hearts, she will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Thank you to the dedicated nursing staff on 4West at Southlake Residential Care Village for their tireless and compassionate care for Audrey, especially during these trying Covid-19 times. We will be forever grateful for your efforts.

Arrangements entrusted with Ogden funeral home.

As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Audrey to the Alzheimer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
